This is the sort of formative kid's novel that guts you emotionally and puts you back together the better for it. Alex (with the help of his dog, Carl Sagan) is going to launch his iPod into space. We follow his story through the audio logs he records for the aliens. Cleverly told coming-of-age drama that made me laugh and cry in equal measure.
